All of the butterflies, moths and insects used by Butterfly Designs have been raised on cruelty free farms around the world.  The average life span of a butterfly is 7 to 10 days.  These farms, aviaries and co-ops provide a source of income for native people who would otherwise have to sell trees off their land or raise cattle, which are both ecologically disastrous.  Butterflies and moths are important members of these fragile ecosystems.  If their natural habitats are allowed to dissapear, then they to will vanish forever.  Everything possible must be done to preserve them all.
